Q&A

I received some questions following my "Acceptance!" post... so i'm going to answer them:)

1.

Q: "Was it hard getting into FIDM?"

A: For me it wasn't difficult whatsoever. It may depend on the person, but i followed everything the application process required, did it in a timely manner, and put alot of effort into it. If you truly believe FIDM is the school for you, you will have absolutely no problem getting accepted.

2.

Q: "Is a Admissions advisor necessary?"

A: Whenever you request information from FIDM, an admissions advisor will contact you via phone call. I suppose you can just forgo having one... but honestly i would highly recommend getting an admissions advisor. They help you SO MUCH. I am so grateful for mine, he helped me get all my materials together and actually helped get me in because before having an interview they write you a recommendation that accounts for a large part of whether you get in or not...

3.

Q:"What kind of questions do they ask in the interview? and how long does it take?"

A:I did my interview over the phone and it took only 15 min. Usually it takes about an hour.. but apparently they already decided to accept me before the actual interview.

In my interview, the Director asked me: How i feel about school, talked about my recommendations, GPA, Entrance Project,if i was ready to move, and the most important question he asked was if i felt this career was really what i wanted to do. He was friendly and we talked about some casual topics as well. The important thing about the interview is to just me your self and show them that this is truly what you want to do.

Feel free to ask anyother questions, i will answer them personally or post them on here.

If i receive my Entrance Project back, i will post it as an example to anyone who is planning to apply to FIDM :)

This is not a new subject. But i feel that i need to rant about it anyway...

The one thing i hate about fashion: the emaciated models they put the clothes on to send down the runway. Woman should not see photos such as these (i found far worse pictures that horrified me and decided not to post them) and get the impression that this is the "ideal body". When i was a freshman/sophomore, i had this exact impression. I tried every fad diet, exercised like crazy, and got to a sickly 14 bmi. I'v had several friends, even my mother, go through anorexia. And most of them say they developed anorexia from seeing photos such as these.

While some countries setting rules so that models have a minimum bmi... others are doing absolutely nothing. What kind of message is this sending to women all over the world?

Women who are this skinny, do not portray what an "healthy woman" should look like.

Another statement on anorexia:

The government should try to moderate what is posted on the internet.

"thinspiration" or the very popular website "pro ana nation" should be banned...

Its one thing to develop an eating disorder on your own, but quite another to be looking on a website that gives you "tips & tricks"

"things to do to distract you from eating" "the one apple a day diet!" etc.

An eating disorder is not something you want. Believe me, 4 years later and i still suffer.

Wanna be in LA

Today I'm going to (try) spend the whole day dedicated to my FIDM application. My advisor called me yesterday, and that gave me some sudden urge to really get a move on it! haha. Apparently the earlier you apply, the better chance of being accepted.
So, me and my other friend thats applying are going to Starbucks to work on it together. It's definitely important to have others look over your work. I think i will be in good shape if i have her,my mother, and my advisor look over everything...
I may also have my blog readers give me some feedback on my Application Project.

So, i decided to dye my hair back to blonde yesterday. My very-into-hair male friend

told me it was incredibly difficult to dye brunette hair back to blonde and

advised against doing a homedying kit. Of coarse i didn't listen, went to the store with my bff and bought a 15$ hair kit,

had her dye it for me and... it ended badly.I figured i could just home dye it again and (possibly it would work). 4 dying

attempts later, and i look like &%^*!. Safe to say, i have an appointment with my hairdresser tomorrow :)

Personally, i think 400$ for perfect hair is totally worth not having damaged hair and knowing it will almost always come out the way i like.

I loved my hair when it was this color.. maybe i would get it a little darker thought this time.

Happy 2010!

I'm beyond excited for the new year :)

Personally, i feel that almost near to nothing good has occurred in 2009... other than president Obama becoming president of coarse.

With the stock market, war, blah blah blah. But i have a feeling 2010 is going to be amazing!

Last night was spent shooting off fireworks, champagne, and basically all the new years traditions! I love the feeling when it finally turns midnight, i don't know it is exactly, but it just feels like a relief in some way. I love it.

New years resolutions? YES!

1. Be kinder to the people that i don't see eye-to-eye with.

2. Eat raw for 6 months.

3. Get excellent grades

4. SATS's... Self explanatory .

5. Actually wear the tons of new clothes i buy, this has been a problem.

6. Try not to dye my hair more than 3 times a year. (Hair dying is kind-of an addiction)

7. Run at least 3 miles without stopping.

8. Love my body.

Good morning! This post will be dedicated to my current favorites in the fashion world. The designer i am loving right now is Marc Jacobs. His designs are so classic and can be worn not just now,but at any time. It doesnt matter if its not "in season" at the current moment. It will always be "in style" in my books. I own many of items of his, and i always want more. I must always resist going into any of his stores :)
